Jet Fuel Analysis by HRTOFMS: EI, CI, and Accurate Mass

This application note demonstrates the use of high-resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometry (HR-TOFMS) to analyze jet fuel, employing both electron impact ionization (EI) and chemical ionization (CI) techniques. The study highlights how combining EI and CI enhances the identification of a wide range of compounds in jet fuel, including alkanes, cycloalkanes, and aromatic hydrocarbons. The application of accurate mass measurements further improves the confidence in molecular formula determination, aiding in the assessment of fuel quality and performance.
